AFRICOM hosts high level discussions on G5 Sahel region

Whitney Baird, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for West Africa and Security Affairs in the Bureau of African Affairs, met with the U.S. Ambassadors to Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, and Niger to discuss field perspectives and an overall approach for the Sahel region of Africa, in Stuttgart, Germany, Oct. 8, 2019.

Whitney Baird, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for West Africa and Security Affairs in the Bureau of African Affairs, met with the U.S. Ambassadors to Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, and Niger to discuss field perspectives and an overall approach for the Sahel region of Africa, in Stuttgart, Germany, Oct. 8, 2019. This one-day dialogue also included USAID mission directors, in addition to both Department of State and Defense personnel actively working Sahel issues, and centered around increasing understanding of country/region specific issues, partner nation positions, and their limiting factors.
