Justified Accord

Justified Accord is U.S. Africa Command's largest exercise in East Africa. Led by U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), and hosted in Kenya, this exercise incorporates personnel and units from more than 20 nations. This multinational exercise builds readiness for the U.S. joint force, prepares regional partners for UN and AU mandated missions, and increases multinational interoperability in support of humanitarian assistance, disaster response and crisis response.

Justified Accord is the premier exercise led by U.S. Africa Command, in close collaboration with the Southern European Task Force-Africa (SETAF-AF), aimed at bolstering regional peace, security, and humanitarian assistance capabilities across East Africa. This multifaceted exercise underscores a deep commitment to peacekeeping, crisis response, and fostering enduring partnerships with military forces in the region and beyond.

Annually, Justified Accord convenes over 1,000 personnel from more than 20 countries, demonstrating the international resolve to enhance peacekeeping capabilities, readiness for United Nations and African Union mandated missions, and multinational interoperability. The exercise spans a variety of training scenarios, including command post exercises, field training, live-fire exercises, maritime operations, and special operations training, all designed to prepare forces for a wide range of peacekeeping and crisis response situations.

The 2024 iteration of Justified Accord, hosted in Kenya, featured a comprehensive agenda that included staff officer academics, a Women, Peace and Security panel, Rule of Law instruction, and a command post exercise in Nairobi. Additionally, field training exercises focused on urban operations and a medical civic action program were conducted, providing essential services to rural communities and enhancing the capabilities of participating forces in real-world humanitarian and crisis scenarios.

Justified Accord's growth in scope and participation over the years reflects an increasing commitment to regional stability and a shared vision for a peaceful and prosperous future. Through collaborative training and shared experiences, the exercise fosters a strong professional ethos among partner military forces, enhancing their ability to respond effectively to crises and contribute to lasting peace in East Africa.

This exercise is more than a military training event; it is a beacon of international cooperation and a collective endeavor towards securing a peaceful and stable East Africa. Justified Accord continues to evolve, adapting to the dynamic security challenges of the region and strengthening the bonds between participating nations.
