Airmen deployed to Nigerien Air Base 101 and U.S. Embassy personnel finished remodeling a local women’s vocational school in Niamey, Niger, Oct. 14, 2019.
For the past several years, AFRICOM has brought African military legal advisors from across the continent together with U.S. military legal advisors for the Africa Military Law Forum (AMLF). This year AMLF met for the fifth time at the International Institute for Humanitarian Law in Sanremo, Italy, from Sept. 10-12, 2019.
Approximately 1,000 military members from 26 countries, including the U.S., participated in the multinational military exercise Shared Accord 2019, which took place in and around the Rwanda Defense Force Gabiro Training Center, Rwanda, Aug. 14-28, 2019.

U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Michael D. Turello, commanding general of Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, visited with leaders of Operation Atalanta on board ITS Antonio Marceglia, outside Djibouti City, Djibouti.
During the two-week training 20 Senegalese Armed Forces (SAF) soldiers from both medical and non-medical learned about infrastructure (setting up field hospital tents and repairing where needed); medical equipment (testing equipment for functionality and maintenance requirements); and power generation. The training included a joint Mass Casualty exercise which consisted of 16 role players with multiple types of injuries to "exercise" and offer the SAF an opportunity to think through, command and control; clinical care practices such as how to set-up a casualty collection point and triage; and patient tracking.

For the first in the West Indian Ocean, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Seychelles Coast Guard conducted a combined maritime law enforcement subject matter expert exchange as part of Operation Junction Rain (OJR), Sept. 9-27, 2019.
U.S. Africa Command and the Government of Tunisia co-hosted a month-long course recently in Tunis, Tunisia for female intelligence officers from northwest Africa.
