ABIDJAN, Côte d'Ivoire - The U.S. government donated medical equipment to the Army Health Service during a ceremony at the Main Health Center of the Agban barracks of the National Gendarmerie on June 10, 2020.

"This donation was made as part of the relations which bind our two countries in order to help Côte d'Ivoire and strengthen health and safety at the global and local levels," said U.S. Ambassador to Cote d'Ivoire, Richard Bell.

The materials will assist clinics conducting infection prevention and control, and support establishment of COVID-related triage stations at health facilities.

“This donation is one part of our continuing relationship to assist Cote d’Ivoire and strengthening global and local health and security," said U.S. Navy Lt. Thomas Blevins, Office of Security Cooperation chief.

The ceremony was presided over by General of Division Alexandre Apalo Touré, superior commander of the Côte d'Ivoire National Gendarmerie, representing the Ministers of State and Defense.
