STUTTGART, Germany --- U.S. Marine Corps Gen. Michael Langley, commander, U.S. Africa Command, alongside AFRICOM’s U.S. Agency for International Development Senior Development Advisor, Maura Barry Boyle; USMC Sgt. Maj. Michael Woods, command senior enlisted leader; and senior support staff traveled to the continent of Africa’s eastern region Nov. 21-28 to meet with various military, civil, and government partners in Djibouti, Somalia, and Kenya.
This visit focused on engaging strategic and interagency partners, and civil society organizations about topics geared toward addressing challenges, opportunities and threats that impact regional stability.

United States Announces Donation of Helicopters to Zambia Air Force

On September 11, the United States announced an $80 million (1.6 billion Kwacha) grant to Zambia that will supply four Bell 412EP helicopters to the Zambia Air Force with three years of service, parts, and training for the helicopters.

U.S. leadership with the Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA) co-hosted a Women, Peace and Security (WPS) workshop with the Djiboutian Ministry of Women and Family at the Palace Kempinski, Djibouti, May 8, 2022.
The participating parties, including members of the Djiboutian Ministry of Women and Family, CJTF-HOA, and U.S. Embassy Djibouti, used the venue to initiate an update to Djibouti’s WPS National Action Plan (NAP). The NAP serves as a binding document for integration of WPS principles, including how they will be prioritized and governed within Djibouti.
Bomber Task Force mission to West Africa exercises counter-illicit maritime capabilities

Two U.S. Air Force B-52 Stratofortress aircraft assigned to the 69th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron, Royal Air Force Fairford, flew a Bomber Task Force mission to southeastern Mauritania and along the west coast of Africa, where aircrew and U.S. Coast Guard members aboard the aircraft exercised their ability to conduct counter-illicit maritime tracking efforts, Feb. 28, 2022.
