U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) Component Commanders and Senior Enlisted Leaders convened in Naples, Italy for a pivotal conference, hosted by U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Africa (NAVEUR-NAVAF), November 14-15, 2023.
This year marks the twentieth anniversary of the African Lion exercise series. What started as a bilateral exercise between the U.S. Marines and the Moroccan Army has grown every year to include three additional African host nations, multiple African and European partners and allies, and the entire U.S. joint and total force.

USS Hershel “Woody” Williams, First ESB to Complete Voyage Repair in South Africa

During the scheduled port visit, Hershel “Woody” Williams completed a 14-day maintenance period in Cape Town’s Cruise Terminal. The ship received preventative and preservative repairs to the flight deck safety nets, mission deck, freeboard and superstructure, as well as the insulation and lighting fixtures.
