U.S. airstrikes in support of GNA: Oct. 14 to 16

At the request of, and in coordination with, the Libyan Government of National Accord, U.S. Africa Command conducted precision air strikes against Daesh targets in Sirte, Libya. As a result, the following target was struck by U.S. forces:

Oct. 14:

  1. One enemy fighting position
  2. Two enemy fighting positions
  3. Two enemy fighting positions
  4. Two enemy fighting positions
  5. Eight enemy fighting positions
  6. Four enemy fighting positions
  7. Three enemy fighting positions
  8. Four enemy fighting positions
  9. Three enemy fighting positions
  10. One enemy fighting position
  11. Three enemy fighting positions
  12. Two enemy fighting positions
  13. Two enemy fighting positions
  14. Three enemy fighting positions
  15. One enemy fighting position
  16. Two enemy fighting positions
  17. Four enemy fighting positions
  18. Two enemy fighting positions and one command and control facility
  19. Two enemy fighting positions
  20. One enemy fighting position
  21. Two enemy fighting positions
  22. One enemy fighting position
  23. One enemy fighting position
  24. Six enemy fighting positions

Oct. 15:

  1. Seven enemy fighting positions
  2. One enemy fighting position
  3. Three enemy fighting positions

Oct. 16:

  1. One enemy fighting position
  2. One Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device
  3. Six enemy fighting positions
  4. One enemy fighting position
  5. One enemy fighting position
  6. One enemy fighting position
  7. One enemy fighting position

This airstrike brings the total number of airstrikes in support of Operation Odyssey Lightning, which began Aug. 1, to 324.

The U.S. stands with the international community in supporting the GNA as it strives to restore stability and security to Libya.

These actions, and those we have taken previously, will help deny Daesh a safe haven in Libya from which it could attack the United States and our allies.

U.S. Africa Command strike updates will be posted Monday through Friday and are contingent on activities conducted.
