Chief of U.S. Army Reserve visits AFRICOM, meets key leaders
The 32nd Chief of U.S. Army Reserve, Lieutenant General Jeffrey W. Talley, hosted a town hall meeting at the Kelley Theater for Reserve Soldiers assigned to U.S. Africa Command. This was part of a two-day visit to the command's headquarters from March 5-6, 2013.

Nigerian Army Col. Mohammed Yerima, director of Defense Information Nigerian Armed Forces, participated in a discussion as part of the U.S. Africa Command Media Visit Program during a visit to U.S. Africa Command headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany, on Jan. 29, 2013. The goal of the five-day seminar was to offer journalists a detailed understanding of U.S. Africa Command's mission, objectives and engagement programs in Africa to better inform their reporting.

Assisting the French in Mali
U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III pilots fly back to France after off loading French troops and cargo in support of Operation Serval Jan. 21, 2013, as France increases their presence in the Republic of Mali to fight off Islamic extremists that have taken control of several important cities. The U.S. has agreed to help France airlift troops and equipment into Mali.

More than 70 civilian and military representatives from 22 agencies came together in Lagos, Nigeria, on Oct. 24, 2011, for a weeklong exercise to prepare for a potential pandemic. The Pandemic Disaster Response Tabletop Exercise was hosted by the Nigerian government and organized by U.S. Africa Command with the support of the Center for Disaster and Humanitarian Assistance Medicine and funding through the U.S. Agency for International Development.

Flintlock 2010: Hundreds of Malians receive medical care
A U.S. Army medic assigned to Joint Special Operations Task Force-Trans Sahara explains the daily dosage recommendations of medication to a female villager from the Jiwoyo community as part of triage during a Medical Civil Action Program conducted during the Flintlock 10 exercise in Mali in May, 2010. U.S. Army health care providers assigned to JSOTF-TS gave free medical care and medicine to nearly 400 local residents in the area who suffer from inadequate and lack of medical care.

A U.S. Army veterinarian assigned to Joint Special Operations Task Force-Trans Sahara inoculates a goat with dewormer as part of a Veterinary Civil Action Program conducted during the Flintlock 10 exercise in Mali. Both U.S. and Malian veterinarians inoculated nearly 500 cattle and goats belonging to farmers in the Jiwoyo community with dewormer medication.
