Gen. Langley visits West and North African partners
Gen. Langley, meeting with partners in North and West Africa from Feb. 6-11, 2023, continued his trip in Algeria by meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Algeria Elizabeth Moore Aubin. The U.S. employs a whole-of-government approach to ensure security cooperation with Algeria counters violent extremism and supports peace in the region.

Federal Government of Somalia engages al Shabaab with support from U.S. Forces
At the request of the Federal Government of Somalia, U.S. Africa Command conducted collective self-defense airstrikes against al Shabaab on Feb. 20, 2025.
In coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia, U.S. Africa Command conducted airstrikes against ISIS-Somalia on Feb. 01, 2025. The joint airstrikes targeted senior ISIS-Somalia leadership in a series of cave complexes approximately 50 miles southeast of Bosaso.
