General William E. "Kip" Ward made his first visit to Royal Air Force Molesworth as commander, U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), to meet the team members of the Intelligence Knowledge Development Molesworth (IKD-M) on January 5, 2010.
IKD-M is a division of U.S. Africa Command that supports the headquarters by providing them expansive expert information about the entire continent of Africa.
After receiving several briefings, Ward visited work stations and shook hands with many of the IKD-M team members. Then the entire team gathered for an all-hands meeting with the general.
“I am the beneficiary of what you do,” Ward said to the team. “We couldn’t be who we are and we couldn’t do what we do in Africa without you.”
He also recognized and gave coins to 10 team members for their outstanding work. Ward emphasized that every person's job is important to the command's mission.
He concluded with “Thank you for all you do---America has sent us to do a job on her behalf and it is great being a part it--keep up the good work.”
