German and American artists gathered at Galerie in der Zhentscheuer on November 14, 2008 to launch a unique art exhibit and celebrate the continued friendships between Germans and Americans in the greater Stuttgart area.

Gerhard Hanus, mayor of Zuffenhausen, welcomed artists and guests to the exhibit, and spoke on the contrast of the old and new reflected in the art displays.

Artwork from fifteen German and American artists was featured in the exhibit, including sculptures, paintings, and drawings. The pieces reflected a diverse mix of traditional and modern art, including scenes of the German and American countryside and modern interpretations of the nations' cultures.

During the opening ceremony, local musicians added another artistic dimension to the evening with a lively selection of American and German music.

General William E. Ward, commander of U.S. Africa Command, attended the event and addressed the artists and guests. During his speech, he described the historic relationship between Germany and the United States and expressed appreciation for the artists' creative depictions of history through color, sculpture, and music.

The exhibit provided an opportunity for Germans and Americans within the region to experience a diverse collection of artwork and celebrating the long-lasting friendship between the two nations.

The exhibit can be viewed at Galerie in der Zehntscheuer Zehnthof 1. Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen 70435.
