During a four-day training course in Lagos, Nigeria, in April 2008, 20 members of the Nigerian Air Force worked alongside U.S. personnel to share knowlege and experience in working with military transport aircraft.

The program, part of a joint partnership program between the United States and Nigeria, aimed to improve the air transport handling capabilities of the Nigerian Air Force and enhance diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Cargo handlers from the Nigerian armed forces benefited from a variety of hands-on and classroom style training on airlift planning, safety, cargo preparation, and cargo loading. The seminar topics were chosen and developed based on requests by the Nigerian Air Force and to familiarize Nigerian Air Force members with standard handling procedures.

U.S. Air Force trainers reported that the Nigerian students performed remarkably well throughout the training.

"There was a remarkable eagerness to absorb any and all instructed information by each pupil," said U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel John R. Connolly in a post-event report.

At the end of the seminar, in recognition of their achievements, each participant was presented with a coin and a certificate of completion.

The U.S. Air Force received positive feedback from the Nigerian Air Force members, with interest expressed in future seminars.
