Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces, in partnership with U.S. Africa Command, hosted a virtual symposium with representatives from countries across Africa Aug. 16-19 for Africa Endeavor 2021.

Africa Endeavor is U.S. Africa Command’s annual senior leader communication symposium focused on discussing opportunities to improve training and workforce development for armed forces’ communication capabilities, and to improve interoperability in multinational operations.

“Our focus is to help our partners enhance their defense capabilities,” said Col. Jesse Phillips, Command, Control, Communication and Computer Systems director, U.S. Africa Command. “Strengthening systems interoperability is critical to enabling successful military partnerships across Africa and maintaining security and stability in the region.”

Sharing examples of tactics, techniques, training, processes, and standardization between and among the U.S. military and partners from throughout Africa also improves the capacity of organizations such as the African Union-led African Standby Force. The ASF is an international, continental African and multidisciplinary peacekeeping force with military, police, and civilian contingents to participate in humanitarian, disaster relief, and peacekeeping missions.

“Morocco is a regional leader in security, helping bring security to the rest of the continent through training and peacekeeping operations,” Phillips stated.

Africa Endeavor takes place less than two months after the completion of African Lion 2021, U.S. Africa Command’s premier and largest annual military exercise on the continent. These exercises and symposiums are critical components of the long-standing and vital security partnership between the and the Kingdom of Morocco.

“The United States’ relationship with Morocco is the longest running in the history of our nation, and we are grateful for their partnership,” said Phillips. “By hosting Africa Endeavor, Morocco continues to demonstrate its leadership role in maintaining regional security.”

As the U.S. and Morocco celebrate 200 years of friendship, the Kingdom remains a valued security exporter that supports a safe and secure Africa.
